The long-awaited community of Seaton has been decades in development, and we couldn’t be more excited that it is now coming to fruition. The story began as far back as 1970 when the provincial government first envisioned a futuristic residential area large enough to accommodate 150,000 to 200,000 people, which was unheard of outside Toronto at the time.
However, as with many government initiatives, the development of Seaton didn’t exactly go according to plan, and this innovative new community would have to wait. In 2006, the idea was reborn, with a plan to create a community blending residential areas and commercial development with 35,000 jobs. It still took time to get around the zoning and the red tape, but the first residents finally moved in during the spring of 2018.
